In this edition, we’ll be looking at the role of immunotherapy in the fight against cancer.
Our guest Elwira Kaminska, PhD – Account Manager, STEMCELL Technologies will introduce the field of immunotherapy and elucidate why it is an appealing strategy against cancer. The idea to deploy the immune system as a tool to treat malignancies originated in the 19th century and since then, the progress in this field has been tremendous. I will outline emerging therapies, current challenges and future promise within the field of cancer immunotherapy.
Elwira Kaminska completed her MEng at Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences in 2007. She decided to move to the UK to pursue my passion for scientific research. Supported by the Institute for Cancer Vaccines and Immunotherapy, she completed her PhD at St. George’s University of London. After graduating, she started working at STEMCELL Technologies, a Canadian biotechnology company. She manages accounts and provides technical and scientific support to scientists within the field of immunology and NHS diagnostic laboratories.
