In May, Czwartek 4 You team is pleased to invite you for the meeting with Dr Anna Ploszajski.

Lecture will introduce the listeners to the topics from atomic structures to theories about magnetic forces, scientific progress has given us a good grasp on the properties of many different materials. However, most scientists can’t measure the temperature of steel just by looking at it, or sculpt stone into intricate statuary, or know how it feels to blow up a balloon of glass – this is the story of materials through making and doing. Join author and materials scientist Dr Anna Ploszajski as she journeys into the domain of makers and craftspeople to paint the fullest picture of some of the world’s most popular materials.

Bio: Dr Anna Ploszajski is an award-winning materials scientist, writer, presenter, podcaster, trainer and storyteller based in London. She has a PhD in Materials Science and identifies as a materials generalist, equally fascinated by merino wool as stainless steel, through all the wonderful metals, plastics, ceramics, glasses and natural substances that make up our material world. She has won numerous prestigious industry awards for her work, including Young Engineer of the Year by the Royal Academy of Engineering, and the Silver Medal from the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.
